AUSTIN, Texas – The BYU women’s track team finished its season by placing 25th at the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
The men finished eighth in the standings on Friday before the women wrapped up their events on Saturday.
“I was impressed by the grit that the ladies manifested,” BYU head coach Ed Eyestone said. “Each of them were tough and fought to the end. It was a really strong showing from our women’s team and proves that we really are a top-25 program. I’m very happy for both the men’s and women’s teams to finish in the top 25.”

The Cougars tied for 25th with four other schools while Arkansas took home the team championship. Texas Tech won on the men’s side on Friday.
BYU was led in the finals by its All-Americans Erica Birk-Jarvis and Brenna Porter. Both runners took fifth in their events, Birk-Jarvis in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and Porter in the 400-meter hurdles.
The other three BYU finalists also finished in the top 10. Whittni Orton took eighth in the 1,500-meter, Anna Camp-Bennett placed eighth in the 800-meter and Andrea Stapleton-Johnson finished ninth in the high jump.
It was the first time since 2006 that more than four female BYU track members scored points at the NCAA Finals.
