PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. – Utah native Tony Finau had a tough couple of rounds at the U.S. Open at Pebble Beach and will likely miss the cut after the second round.

Following a 3-over score of 74 on Thursday, Finau played a slightly better round on Saturday, shooting a 1-over par score of 72 to arrive at 4-over in total.

Friday’s round started well for Finau has he converted a birdie on the par-4 fourth hole. He later bogeyed the seventh hole, then birdied the eighth before bogeying again on the ninth to sit at even par at the turn.

On the back nine, Finau birdied the 10th but had bogeys on 15 and 18 to wrap up his second round and enter the clubhouse outside of the top 100.

The cut is projected to be 1-over, placing Finau well outside of moving on in the tournament.

Another Utahn in the U.S. Open, Salt Lake City’s Zac Blair, had a forgettable tournament, finishing near the bottom of the leaderboard with a two-round score of 16-over. He had a disastrous first round on Thursday, scoring a 14-over that included four double bogeys.

England’s Justin Rose sits atop the leaderboard at 7-under after two rounds. The tournament will continue through Sunday.
