KSL Sports Rewind’s Dusty Litster Continues Fight Against Brain Tumors

Feb 10, 2025, 5:20 PM

SALT LAKE CITY – After undergoing surgery to remove a pair of brain tumors in April 2024, KSL Sports Rewind’s Dusty Litster has continued his recovery through chemotherapy and other operations.

Litster, the voice of Utah High School Sports for nearly two decades, has a passion for sports and his huge heart has left a lasting impact on the Beehive State even in his absence.

With that said, keeping Litster away from the sports scene is a near-impossible mission. After his surgery, he promised to be back in the studio for week one of the 2024 football season.

Litster was still in the middle of his recovery but made it back for KSL Sports Rewind’s Top 25 Rankings.

Skyridge Basketball Holds Dusty Litster Night

On February 7, the Skyridge Falcons hosted the Lehi Pioneers and the school honored Litster and all he has done for the community.

In support of Litster and his family, the girls’ and boys’ teams sported “Litster” shirts during warm-ups and there was a presentation pre-game.

At the game, Skyridge men’s basketball head coach Jeff Gardner spoke about Litster’s character and explained why the community is coming together to support him on his journey.

“It doesn’t take you long (to see that Dusty Litster) loves the game, knows the game, loves the kids, and does his homework,” Gardner said. “You would think he was the hometown commentator. How he knew all the stories and all the kids. His recall and preparation were just amazing. I miss his presence and the way you felt his love and care. Lehi and Skyridge came together and said ‘Let’s have a night where we honor Dusty.’ Our purpose is to let him know that we are there with him in the fight, that we love him, and we think about him often. We’re anxiously waiting for him to beat it and to be able to get back on the mic.”

With ongoing procedures creating increasing medical expenses, Litster’s GoFundMe has set a new goal.

The latest update on the page reads, “Dusty’s fight continues! He has battled through several rounds of chemo and several more operations over the last several months. His perseverance is inspiring. We’ve extended the goal of this fundraiser. Expenses continue to climb as Dusty’s fight continues. Thank you SO much for all of the help, thoughts, and prayers over the last year.”
