Big 12 Distributes $558 Million To Member Schools

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Big 12 Conference concluded its annual spring business meetings on Friday.
Commissioner Brett Yormark announces revenue distribution to the league’s member institutions at the end of the meetings.
For the 2024-25 academic year, the Big 12 Conference is distributing $558 million of revenue, Yormark, who completed his third year as Commissioner, announced.

That includes television media rights, money from Bowl Games and NCAA Tournament appearances, and Big 12 Conference Championship events.
The $558 million distribution is another record for the conference, which boasts BYU and Utah in the league.
Utah, which completed its first full year as a member of the Big 12, will receive a full revenue distribution.
BYU, which completed its second year in the Power Four league, will receive $19 million in revenue.
Along with BYU, the other 2023 newcomers to the Big 12, all of which joined from Group of Five affiliations except BYU, previously an FBS Independent, will receive payouts of $19 million.
Beginning in the 2025-26 athletic year, BYU, UCF, Cincinnati, and Houston will all receive full shares in the Big 12.
That coincides with the Big 12’s new six-year media rights package with ESPN and FOX, which is expected to give schools $31.7 million annually until 2031.
League distributions during the Brett Yormark era
Last year, the Big 12 Conference distributed $470 million in revenue in the final year with Texas and Oklahoma as members in the conference.
In the 2022-23 academic year, Yormark’s first year as Commissioner, the league dished out $440 million when it was a 10-member conference.
The distributions to schools in a conference have always been critical for programs to operate. But they are more valuable than ever as universities prepare for the pending revenue-sharing era to begin.
In revenue sharing, schools will be able to pay their student-athletes up to $20.1 million in the first year. However, it’s all on hold until the House v. NCAA settlement actually goes through.
The Big 12 Spring Business meetings were held at the Waldorf Astoria in Walt Disney World. It was the first time that the league combined its coaches’ meetings and business meetings at the same time.
