SALT LAKE CITY — Utah’s Devon Dampier grabbed the headlines — after three rushing touchdowns, 120 yards on the ground, and another efficient night through the rain — but make no mistake: Utah’s offensive line was the driving force behind it.

In Saturday’s rain-soaked, storm affair of a game, Utah’s starting five of Caleb Lomu, Tanoa Togiai, Jaren Kump, Michael Mokofisi, and Spencer Fano dominated from the first snap.

The group paved the way for 276 rushing yards and six rushing touchdowns — the most rushing scores in a game versus an AP Top-25 opponent in school history.

They also kept Dampier clean — he wasn’t sacked once. That kind of protection in a hostile, wet environment says a lot about the group’s cohesion and effort.

Utah O-Block named Big 12 Offensive Line of the Week

After they steamrolled Arizona State in a 42–10 win, the Utes’ O-line was named Big 12 Offensive Line of the Week.

Utah has averaged 5.4 yards per carry on 1st down but the Sun Devils are limiting opponents to just 1.3 yards per carry on 1st down. That made this an unstoppable force vs an immovable object type of matchup.

But Utah’s offensive line set the tone from the jump, and powered the rushing attack to 6.4 yards per carry on 1st down, a whole yard better than their season-long average.

This is the second time the Utes have earned the award this season. They first earned the award after a similarly dominant effort against another former Pac-12 program, UCLA, in week one.

The starting five of Caleb Lomu, Tanoa Togiai, Jaren Kump, Michael Mokofisi, and Spencer Fano kept Dampier clean in the pocket by not allowing a sack. The group also paved the way for 286 yards on the ground.

A few more stats that underscore the dominance:

  • This was only the fifth time in program history Utah scored six rushing TDs in one game.

  • Utah now ranks 8th in the FBS in rushing offense (248.2 ypg) and leads the Big 12 in that category.

  • The O-line has been steady all season: Utah ranks 4th nationally in fewest sacks allowed (0.50 per game) and 6th in fewest tackles for loss allowed (3.17 per game).
