Utah County High School Player of the Week – Week 11 – David Shern

SALT LAKE CITY – The Mr. Mac Utah County High School Player of the Week is awarded each week to the top prep football players in Utah County. It honors athletes for their performances on the gridiron and exceptional play. Our winner this week was Utah Military Academy Camp Williams quarterback David Shern.

Utah County Player of the Week – David Shern, Utah Military Academy Camp Williams

Shern and Utah Military Academy Camp Williams opened the 1A 8-Player playoffs against the Panguitch Bobcats last Friday in Lehi. After some early back-and-forth between the two teams, Shern hooked up with Tyler Muse for the first of what would be three touchdowns between the pair as the Marauders opened a 28-6 halftime lead.

UMACW emerged from the locker room after halftime and Shern led them right down the field for a touchdown. After a lull in the scoring the resst of the third quarter, the Marauders piled on an additional 20 fourth quarter points to puntuate their 55-6 victory. A three-sport athlete, Shern completed 6-of-11 passes for 182 yards and five touchdowns while also rushing for a team-high 92 yards and an additional two touchdowns on the ground. UMACW now faces Milford in the second round of the 8-Player playoffs.
