Salt Lake County High School Player of the Week – Week 13 – Xavier Cocci, Skyline

SALT LAKE CITY – The Hercules Salt Lake County High School Player of the Week is celebrating the best high school football player in Salt Lake County. Presented by Hercules First Federal Credit Union, each week we honor athletes for their exceptional performance on the gridiron.  Our winner this week was Xavier Cocci from Skyline High School.

Salt Lake County Player of the Week – Xavier Cocci, Skyline

Cocci and the Skyline Eagles hosted Green Canyon High School in the 4A Quarterfinals last Friday. After a slow start, Green Canyon drew first blood but Cocci responded with his lone touchdown throw of the game. The Wolves then tallied their second TD of the first half and took a 14-7 into halftime.

Skyline emerged from the locker room determined to make it a game and Cocci tied the game up with a five-yard touchdown scamper. After another Green Canyon touchdown he found paydirt with his legs again, but the Eagles missed the ensuing PAT. After the Wolves added their final touchdown, Cocci completed his hat trick of rushing scores, but the Eagles were unable to convert the two-point conversion attempt to force overtime and lost 28-26. Cocci finished the game with 298 yards passing and one touchdown to go with 133 rushing yards and three touchdowns on the ground.
