Big 12 Basketball Power Rankings: Piling Up Wins In Nonconference

SALT LAKE CITY – Big 12 basketball enters week three of the 2025-26 season.
The league is off to a strong start this season in non-conference matchups.
Big 12 basketball is taking care of business in non-conference games
Over the past week, Big 12 teams notched wins over Auburn, UCLA, Mississippi State, Texas A&M, California, and Providence, among Power Conference wins. Then the league had strong showings from teams like BYU and Texas Tech in difficult environments, but came up short.
Three Big 12 basketball teams appear in this week’s AP Top 10, and they are showing themselves early to be some of the best teams in the country: Houston, Arizona, and BYU.
Houston has another star on the guard line rocking the No. 4, that’s freshman Kingston Flemings, who had 22 points, seven assists, and five rebounds in a win over Auburn.
But don’t sleep on Texas Tech and Iowa State. JT Toppin dropped 35 points in a road loss at Illinois and looked every bit the part of a defending Big 12 player of the year.
Iowa State is beating teams by an average of 31 points this season to open the year, which includes a neutral court win over Mississippi State.
