Jimmer Fredette To Have BYU Jersey Retired At Marriott Center

PROVO, Utah – BYU basketball legend Jimmer Fredette will be honored in the rafters of the Marriott Center.
Fredette’s jersey will be retired next month, when BYU takes on Colorado on February 14.

The Glens Falls, New York, native will join BYU greats Kresimir Cosic, Mel Hutchins, Roland Minson, and Danny Ainge as the group of BYU stars to have their jerseys retired.
It’s not easy for an athlete at BYU to receive the honor.
They had to be an All-American and a recipient of a major award in their respective sport. Then, there is a 15-year wait after the playing career is over.

Fredette’s 15-year wait ended this year, as he concluded his BYU career in 2011. A career that created a generation of BYU basketball fans.
Fredette played at BYU from 2008 to 2011. During his senior season in 2011, Fredette became the best player in college basketball, winning the Wooden Award and leading BYU to its first Sweet 16 appearance in 30 years.
Fredette was a Consensus All-American and had a flair for knocking down shots anywhere on the floor.

In his senior season, Fredette averaged 28.9 points per game and shot 39.6% from three-point range.
Fredette scored 2,599 points in his BYU career, good for second all-time in program history. He had celebrities and athletes from across the world buzzing on social media about his ability to knock down shots.
Now Fredette’s historic career will forever be remembered at the Marriott Center, with his jersey on display for all to see.
Fredette’s career averages at BYU included 18.7 points, 3.7 assists, 2.6 rebounds, 45.5% shooting from the field, 39.4% from 3-point range, and 88.2% from the free throw line.
