Transfer Portal entries continue on the BYU basketball roster
Tyler Mrus transferred to BYU from the University of Idaho, where he was looked upon to be a sharpshooting three-point specialist for the Cougars. That didn’t materialize, as he made only 29% of his three-point attempts this past season.
Mrus’ role decreased after nonconference play. During the Big 12 portion of the schedule, he only played 99 minutes of game action.
The 6-foot-7, 208-pound prospect out of Bothell, Washington, announced his entry into the portal on social media.
“After much thought and prayer, I have decided to enter the transfer portal and explore the next step in my journey. I’m excited for what’s ahead and ready for this next chapter,” Mrus wrote on a social media graphic.
KJ Perry has three years of eligibility remaining
Combo guard KJ Perry signed with BYU out of Citrus College last November as the No. 1 JUCO recruit in the country. He joined the program at midyear and was enrolled in the winter semester. Perry redshirted this past season.
The Southfield, Michigan, native has three years of eligibility remaining in his collegiate career.

The 6-2 guard was ranked the country's No. 1 JUCO player, per JUCO recruiting, after one season at Citrus College.

Perry was initially committed to Cal State Northridge after graduating from Southern California Academy, before pivoting to the JUCO path at Citrus College.
He picked BYU over interest from TCU, SMU, and USC.
The departures of Perry and Mrus to the transfer portal bring BYU’s total entries in the 2026 cycle to six.
