LAS VEGAS – Despite participating in line rushes and drills during morning skate on Wednesday, Utah Mammoth forward Barrett Hayton is not expected to play in Game 5 according to head coach Andre Tourigny.

Tourigny says that Barrett Hayton is day to day but he’s not expected to play tonight.

Barrett Hayton not expected to play in Game 5 against Golden Knights

After suffering an upper body injury on March 24, Hayton was still considered week-to-week entering the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

However, just ahead of Game 5 in Las Vegas, Hayton participated in line rushes during Utah’s morning skate and was officially upgraded to a day-to-day status by Tourigny.

Forward Lines from this morning:

Keller – Schmaltz – Crouse
Yamamoto – Cooley – Guenther
Kerfoot – Hayton – Carcone
Peterka – Stenlund – Tanev

Unfortunately for Utah and despite the improved status, Hayton is still not quite ready to play.

“Nope. It’s day to day,” Coach Tourigny said in response to whether or not Hayton would play in Game 5.

“He’s close. Will probably do the warmup. He’s getting there but no, he’s not supposed to [play].”

In terms of the potential lineup for Game 5 in Las Vegas, Liam O’Brien skated on the third line with Alexander Kerfoot and Michael Carcone while JJ Peterka was moved to the fourth line with Brandon Tanev and Kevin Stenlund.

While nothing has been confirmed in terms of their lineup ahead of Wednesday’s game, it would not be surprising to see Peterka demoted after he was benched for his performance in Game 4 during the third period and overtime.

Per Tourigny, JJ was benched in last nights game due to his performance.

What’s next for the Utah Mammoth?

The Utah Mammoth will face the Vegas Golden Knights in game five of the Stanley Cup Playoffs on Wednesday night at 8 p.m. MT.

The game will be available on SEG+.
