Reports: Utah Jazz trade Cody Williams, John Konchar to Minnesota

SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Jazz are making their second trade of the offseason, according to reports.
ESPN NBA Insider Shams Charania reported on Friday night that the Jazz will be sending Cody Williams and John Konchar to the Minnesota Timberwolves for Josh Green and cash considerations.

Charania added in a second post that Minnesota expects to keep Williams and waive Konchar.
Utah Jazz trade Cody Williams, John Konchar
Utah drafted Williams with the 10th overall pick in the first round of the 2024 NBA Draft.
After a slower start in year one, the forward out of Colorado averaged 8.8 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 2.0 assists last season. In spite of efficiency struggles, Williams showed flashes as an athlete and on defense.
Konchar was acquired by Utah in the Jaren Jackson Jr. deal at last year’s trade deadline.
In 26 games with the team, the seven-year veteran averaged 5.9 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 3.0 assists.
Also worth noting it is a consolidation trade. Two in, one out. Opens up space for another move down the road.

Jazz Acquire Josh Green
Green was drafted with the 18th overall pick in the first round of the 2020 NBA Draft by the Dallas Mavericks.
After spending the first four years of his career in Dallas, he made the move to Charlotte, where he has spent the last two seasons.
In his six-year professional career, Green has averages of6.3 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 1.4 assists. He has shot 38.7 percent from three for his career, and shot a career-high 42 percent last season.

Green hasn’t entirely buckled down in the 3&D role. But he is pretty close, and also only 25 years old.
In the 2025-26 season, the Hornets were 6.5 points per 100 possessions better with him on the floor, and opposing teams were 4.2 points per 100 possessions worse.

Also of note, Green immediately becomes the third-highest paid player on the roster behind Lauri Markkanen and Jackson Jr.
Previously, the large gap on Utah’s books could’ve caused problems when attempting to make a future trade. Not to say Green is a trade chip already on his way out the door, but the Jazz’s split of contracts is slightly more favorable now than it was before this trade.
Standing at 6-foot-6, Green enters a wing room with the likes of Darryn Peterson, Ace Bailey, Brice Sensabaugh, Svi Mykhailiuk, and Josh Okogie.
