Utah Jazz legend Ron Boone honored with street named after him in Omaha

SALT LAKE CITY — Former Utah Jazz guard and current broadcaster Ron Boone was honored by his hometown of Omaha, Nebraska, this week.
With his 80th birthday approaching, the city commemoratively renamed a stretch of Pratt Street in North Omaha as Ron Boone Street.

Boone was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, but grew up in Omaha and graduated from Omaha Technical High School in 1963. He was inducted into the Nebraska High School Sports Hall of Fame in 1995.
After attending Clarinda Community College and Idaho State University, Boone began his professional basketball career in the American Basketball Association (ABA) in 1968.
About Ron Boone
Across 13 seasons in the ABA and the National Basketball Association (NBA), Boone played for six teams. This included two stints in Utah, with the Stars from 1971 to 1975 and with the Jazz from 1979 to 1981.
Boone’s professional basketball record of 1,041 consecutive games played stood for nearly two decades before A.C. Green surpassed him in 1999. He didn’t miss a single game during his playing career.
When the ABA merged with the NBA in 1976, Boone ranked third in league history in points, sixth in assists and fifth in both games and minutes played.
Within a decade of retiring in 1981, Boone rejoined the Jazz organization as a broadcaster. Since 1988, he has called games from the sideline as a Radio Analyst.
