LOGAN – Nothing signals the opening of Pac-12 play better than a date with the No. 22 Boise State Broncos.
Utah State jumps straight into the deep end Saturday, opening its conference schedule against a ranked Boise State team at Albertsons Stadium.
It will be the Aggies’ third game against a Top 25 opponent in the past four weeks, following losses to No. 19 Washington and No. 17 Utah.
For Utah State, the matchup is more than just a conference opener. It is another chance to measure itself against one of the toughest opponents on its schedule, snap a 10-game losing streak and try to reverse a long history of struggles against ranked teams.

Saturday’s game will mark the 11th time in the past 20 meetings that Boise State has entered the matchup ranked. Utah State’s only win over a ranked Boise State team came in 2015, when the Aggies beat the No. 21 Broncos 52-26 at home.
The Aggies are 6-74 all time against AP Top 25 teams, including a 0-2 mark this season. They have already faced one of the toughest early schedules in the country, and Boise State gives them another chance to test themselves before the heart of conference play.
This will be the seventh time in program history that Utah State has played three ranked opponents in the same season.

Utah State is 9-5 in its past 14 conference openers and 5-3 in road conference openers during that stretch. This will be the third time the Aggies have opened conference play in Boise.
History, though, has not been kind to Utah State in this series. The Aggies are 5-25 all time against Boise State and 3-13 at Albertsons Stadium.

That makes Saturday’s opener both a challenge and an opportunity.
If Utah State wants to turn the page on its losing streak and start Pac-12 play with momentum, it will have to do something it has rarely done — beat a ranked Boise State team on the road.
