PROVO — If BYU versus Notre Dame wasn’t an electric enough matchup, Fred Warner only adds to the aura.
Warner, a BYU football great and one of the best linebackers in the NFL with the San Francisco 49ers, narrated a hype video that showcased the one similarity between the Cougars and the Irish.

Fred Warner narrates BYU football hype video for Notre Dame game
“There are two places in college football where faith isn’t a footnote. Where game day starts in solemn prayer,” Warner said.
“Where the biggest name you play for isn’t on the back of your jersey, nor the front. South Bend and Provo. That’s where the common ground ends.”
Warner isn’t lying. There isn’t much in common between BYU and Notre Dame aside from being faith-based institutions.
Warner continued, “One has a seat saved at every table. The other got handed the late shift. While the East Coast slept, Cougar Nation stayed up, and we made the late shift ours.”
Then Warner laid out the path to this point for BYU football since joining the Big 12 Conference.
“Year one, we pulled up the chair. Year two, we are in the seat. Year three, close enough to hear the door shut. Now, year four, number two. Number eight. And still the underdog, still asked to explain ourselves. So let’s settle it.”
Then the hype video ended with Kalani Sitake’s iconic, “They don’t know, but they ’bout to find out” pregame speech before the 2024 Utah game.
Absolute electric factory.
