Ridgeline Riverhawks Remain Perfect In Game Night Live Win Over Stansbury

SALT LAKE CITY — The No. 4 Ridgeline Riverhawks stayed locked in through an extended halftime break due to a weather delay to defeat the No. 19 Stansbury Stallions on the road on Friday.

With the win, Ridgeline remained undefeated, reaching a perfect 8-0 mark for the season. The loss was the second of the season for the Stallions, the first coming in a low-scoring affair back in week four against Green Canyon.

The connection between quarterback Nate Dahle and wide receiver Graham Livingston remained strong as the duo connected on two touchdowns in the 41-6 win.

First Half

The first drive for each team had a similar result, but vastly different ways of getting there.

Ridgeline started with the ball and had no trouble marching down the field. It felt like they moved the chains every other play and, eventually, found themselves deep in Stansbury territory.

Dahle found Livingston to put the Riverhawks up 7-0 early.

On the ensuing Stansbury possession, the Stallions made some plays early in the series and moved across midfield.

The Ridgeline defense buckled down, forcing the offense into a 4th & 24. With field position in their favor, the Stallions opted to go for it and were rewarded.

With the ball back, the Riverhawks said: Whatever you can do, I can do better. Not exactly, but they punched in a TD on fourth down themselves.

Once again, after a quick push across midfield, Ridgeline faced a 4th & short. They gave it to junior running back Noah Fiefia, and he broke multiple tackles on his push to the goal line.

The score was Fiefia’s sixth of the season.

The offensive fireworks significantly slowed from there.

Ridgeline and Stansbury traded stops. Most possessions went further than three-and-out, but neither side was able to put together any real threatening scoring chances.

That was until the Riverhawks got one more shot in the final minutes of the half. Set up near midfield, they gave the ball to Fiefia again, and he made some magic.

Now trailing 21-6, Stansbury had about a minute to try and knock some points off the deficit.

The final possession of the half stalled out, and Ridgeline took the 15-point lead into the break.

Second Half

Just as the game was set to return after the break, lightning in the area caused a weather delay that extended over 90 minutes. Holding out worked out in their favor, as the game was able to return before 10:00 p.m.

Coming back from the extended break, the Riverhawks started to take over.

In less than two minutes of game time, back-to-back pick-sixes extended the Ridgeline lead to nearly 30 points.

Both sides were able to put together promising drives later in the quarter, but the Riverhawks’ two defensive scores ended up being the only points in teh third quarter.

Heading into the fourth, Ridgeline led 34-6 over Stansbury.

The Stallions were able to put together two more quality drives, but Ridgeline held strong with their backs against the wall to force two straight turnovers on downs.

With less than four minutes left, Dahle and Livingston connected once again to increase the lead to 41-6.

That lead held strong down the stretch, and Ridgeline remained undefeated with the convincing win over Stansbury on the road.
