Salt Lake County High School Player of the Week – Week 2 – Helaman Casuga, Corner Canyon

SALT LAKE CITY – The Hercules Salt Lake County High School Player of the Week is celebrating the best high school football player in Salt Lake County. Presented by Hercules First Federal Credit Union, each week we honor athletes for their exceptional performance on the gridiron.  Our winner this week was Corner Canyon High School quarterback Helaman Casuga.

Salt Lake County Player of the Week – Helaman Casuga, Corner Canyon

Casuga and Corner Canyon High School made the trek north to face the Fremont Silver Wolves last week in a non-region matchup. Casuga wasted no time settling in as he threw two touchdown passes to build a 14-0 lead midway through the first quarter as the Chargers took off and never looked back. He added a touchdown run in the second quarter as CCHS took a 24-7 lead into the locker room

The Chargers didn’t slow down in the second half as they fended off Fremont’s attempts to climb back into the contest. Casuga tossed two more touchdown passes and rushed for another as they went on to win 67-21. He finished the game with 390 total yards and six total touchdowns as the Chargers improved to 3-0 on the season
