SALT LAKE CITY – The Hercules Salt Lake County High School Player of the Week is celebrating the best high school football player in Salt Lake County. Presented by Hercules First Federal Credit Union, each week we honor athletes for their exceptional performance on the gridiron. Our winner this week was Taylorsville High School quarterback Khi Spight.
Salt Lake County Player of the Week – Khi Spight, Taylorsville
Spight and the Taylorsville Warriors welcomed the Hillcrest Huskies in for a Region 4 matchup and the game didn’t disappoint. After a scoreless first quarter, Spight opened the scoring with a nine-yard touchdown run. Hillcrest then scored the next 21 points to go up 21-7 spanning halftime.
Spight and the Warriors then answered the Huskies’ 21-0 run with one of their own to go up 28-21 with 2:04 to go in the game. Hillcrest then scored a game-tying touchdown with 34 seconds to go and forced overtime. Spight scored on on a three-yard touchdown run in the first overtime period and the Warriors defense stopped Hillcrest to give them a 35-28 victory. Spight tallied 145 total yards and three touchdowns as the Warriors picked up their second win of the season.
