SALT LAKE CITY – The Mr. Mac Utah County High School Player of the Week is awarded each week to the top prep football players in Utah County. It honors athletes for their performances on the gridiron and exceptional play. Our winner this week was Lone Peak linebacker Kingston Stroshine.
Utah County Player of the Week – Kingston Stroshine, Lone Peak
Stroshine and the Lone Peak Knights made the trek north to Davis High School for a highly-anticipated 6A Quarterfinal showdown last Friday. The game started slowly with both defenses showing well early with the teams each making an early field goal before the fireworks really took off. Davis added two second-quarter touchdowns countered by a TD for Lone Peak that saw the Darts take a 17-10 halftime lead.
The third quarter the inverse of the second quarter as Lone Peak evened the game 24-all. Davis took a lead midway through the fourth quarter and Kepa Niumeitolu sent the game to overtime with his touchdown run with 30 seconds to go. Both teams scored on their opening series of overtime before Lone Peak took a 41-38 lead on a field goal and that’s when Stroshine and the Lone Peak defense delivered with a stop that won the game with him making key plays in the sequence. Stroshine finished the game with 11 total tackles, three tackles for loss and one sack.
