Utah County High School Player of the Week – Week 7 – Gehrig Orchard

SALT LAKE CITY – The Mr. Mac Utah County High School Player of the Week is awarded each week to the top prep football players in Utah County. It honors athletes for their performances on the gridiron and exceptional play. Our winner this week was Provo High School quarterback Gehrig Orchard.

Utah County Player of the Week – Gehrig Orchard, Provo

Orchard and the Provo Bulldogs welcomed Timpanogos High School last Friday in a Region 8 showdown. The Bulldogs wasted no time settling in as they raced out to a 20-7 lead after the first quarter with Orchard throwing two touchdown passes. He added two more touchdown strikes in the second quarter as Provo carried a 27-10 lead into halftime.

Timpanogos struck first after the break, making it a 10-point game, but Orchard and Provo put the pedal to metal as they went on 21-0 run to extinguish any dreams of a comeback for the Timberwolves. Orchard, who is a three-sport athlete and fourth-generation Bulldog, finished the game completing 80% of his passes (24/30) for 440 yards and seven touchdowns as Provo improved to 2-0 in region play with a 61-24 victory.
