Granger had plenty of chances in the first half, but shot itself in the foot with penalties and poor execution.
The Panther defense made repeated big plays, shutting down the Lancers at every turn.
First Quarter
West took the football first, but was forced to punt from deep in its own territory. The kick took a Lancers bounce, setting Granger up with 1st & 10 from the 43-yard line.
The Lancers gave the football back after a turnover on downs after reaching the red zone.
Some massive defensive penalties helped West move into Granger territory before Louie Hamilton powered across the goal line for a touchdown.

West led 7-0 midway through the first quarter.
After a Granger punt, West had two touchdowns called back.
The first came back after an inadvertent whistle on the initial punt. The second was a 95-yard TD to King Long that was nullified by offsetting penalties.
Second Quarter
West ended up with first and goal after two bruising runs from Hamilton. QB Kamden Lopati nearly ended the drive in disaster when he fumbled, but the junior was able to collect the football and still score.

West began driving late in the quarter with an eye on putting the game out of reach with another TD.
Instead, the Lancers grabbed their first sense of momentum when La’auli Figiel intercepted a Lopati pass for the first turnover of the night.

Granger drove into West territory late in the half, looking to get on the scoreboard. An interception in the end zone late in the half allowed the Panthers to run the clock out.
Third Quarter
Granger built a promising drive to open the second half, but a fumble ended the possession, still trailing 21-0.
West’s ground game took over. A pounding possession ended with a touchdown when Lopati faked an end-around before sprinting for a long TD that made it 28-0 under 20 seconds to play in the period.
Fourth Quarter
The lead increased to 35 when Louie Hamilton broke several tackles on a 23-yard TD with less than ten minutes to play.
Kellen Wood added the finishing touches when he split the Granger defense for a 20-yard TD.
West heads home with the 42-0 win.
