SALT LAKE CITY — Former BYU standout Egor Demin returned to familiar territory Friday night to claim his piece of NBA history.

Playing his first professional game in the state where he rose to stardom as a Cougar, the Brooklyn Nets guard notched his 34th consecutive game with a made three-pointer—setting a new NBA rookie record.

The shot came very early, with Demin ripping the lace from behind the arc less than 90 seconds after tipoff.

While Demin’s facilitating and length on the perimeter were what shone in his lone year in Provo, his jumpshot is what has impressed in his first NBA season.

Heading into his 41st career game, he made 98 of his 247 three-point attempts (39.7 percent).

The efficiency from downtown has driven his 10.4 points per game average, while also adding 3.0 rebounds and 3.4 assists.

Brooklyn has struggled to find wins this year, sitting near the bottom of the league with a 12-34 record. But Demin’s rookie campaign has given hope to the franchise as they push through a rebuilding phase.

About Egor Dëmin

At 6’8 and 200 pounds, the Russian native was a rare one-and-done prospect for the BYU Cougars men’s basketball program.

Dёmin was named to the 2025 Big 12 All-Freshman Team after averaging 10.6 points, 5.5 assists, and 3.9 rebounds at BYU.

His stock continued to rise, leading the Brooklyn Nets to select him with the 8th pick in the 2025 NBA Draft.
