Jazz To Bring In 12 Draft Prospects For Workouts

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – As the NBA Draft draws closer, the Utah Jazz are ramping up their pre-draft workout process.
It was announced on Saturday that the Jazz would be bringing in 12 more players to work out for the team in two different sessions on Sunday at the Zions Bank Basketball Campus, the team’s practice facility.
The first group will feature Georgia’s Nic Claxton, Auburn’s Jared Harper, Florida State’s Mfiondu Kabengele, St. John’s Shamorie Ponds, LSU’s Naz Reid and Tennessee’s Grant Williams.

Of that first group the most intriguing prospects are Kabengele, Reid and Willams.
Both 6-foot-10 big men, Kabengele and Reid are expected to be selected in the late first round, around the time that the Jazz will pick at 23rd overall. Williams, a 6-foot-7 big man, is expected to be a late first rounder or early second rounder.
The second group of the day will feature Michigan’s Ignas Brazdeikis, Purdue’s Carsen Edwards, Oregon’s Louis King, Stanford’s KZ Okpala, Belmont’s Dylan Windler and Hofstra’s Justin Wright-Foreman.

Most of the second group is expected to fall to the second round of this summer’s draft while Okpala, a 6-foot-9 wing player, is projected as a top-20 pick in the first round.
The Jazz have already worked out a couple of local college players. Both Utah State’s Neemias Queta and Utah’s Donnie Tillman have gone through the audition process for the Jazz, and while neither received glowing reviews for their NBA-readiness, they both obtained valuable feedback from Jazz vice president of player personnel Walt Perrin.
The NBA Draft will take place on June 20 in Chicago.
