SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Utah Jazz announced their latest batch of draft prospects due to come audition in front of their scouts for a pre-draft workout this week.

On Friday, the Jazz will host six more amateurs at the team’s practice facility.

Wednesday night was the deadline for underclassman college players to withdraw their name or remain in the upcoming NBA Draft, so the players that the Jazz have coming in have committed to going through the pre-draft process.

Utah previous worked out a couple of local college stars, Utah’s Donnie Tillman and Utah State’s Neemias Queta, but both have decided to return to school for next year.

Friday’s six-player group will include former high school All-American Brian Bowen II, Houston’s Armoni Brooks, Virginia’s Ty Jerome, Michigan’s Jordan Poole, Tennessee’s Admiral Schofield and Mississippi State’s Quinndary Weatherspoon.

Here’s a bit about each player:

Brian Bowen II

Bowen has entered his name in the NBA Draft after spending a season playing for the Sydney Kings in Australia. He was originally a five-star recruit out of La Luimere School in Indiana before committing to play at Louisville. However, his career at Louisville ended nearly as soon as it began as he was involved in a corruption scandal that ultimately resulted in the dismissal of legendary head coach Rick Pitino. Bowen transferred to South Carolina, but ended up deciding to go pro in Australia rather than face possible suspension by the NCAA.

In Australia, he averaged 6.3 points and 3.2 rebounds per game. He is projected as a possible second-round pick in the draft.

Armoni Brooks

It wasn’t expected that Brooks would remain in the NBA Draft after declaring that he would test the waters after his junior year. However, Wednesday’s deadline passed and Brooks remained in the draft, ending his career at Houston.

Last season, Brooks averaged 13.4 points and 6.3 rebounds per game with the Cougars. He was major player on Houston’s team which advanced all the way to the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Tournament. He is not listed on any mock drafts by any major publications or experts.

Ty Jerome

Jerome was the starting point guard on Virigina’s NCAA Tournament championship team. An All-ACC Second Team selection a finalist for the Bob Cousy Award, given to the nation’s best point guard, he averaged 13.6 points per game with 5.5 assists and 4.2 rebounds. He’s also an above average shooter with a career 3-point percentage of 39.2 percent in his time with the Cavaliers.

The 6-foot-5 point guard is projected to be an early second-round pick but could creep into the first round in the right situation.

Jordan Poole

A former high-school teammate of Bowen’s at La Lumiere School in Indiana, Poole improved dramatically from his first to his second year at Michigan. As a freshman, he averaged just 6.1 points while playing 12.5 minutes per game. The next year, his scoring output jumped to 12.8 points on 33.1 minutes per game.

After leading Michigan to its third consecutive Sweet 16 appearance in 2019, Poole declared for the draft. Sports Illustrated has Poole as the 51st best prospect in the draft.

Admiral Schofield

Schofield has bit of pro athlete in his blood. His brother, O’Brien, was a member of the Seattle Seahawks’ Super Bowl title team in 2013. Unlike most of the prospects that he’ll be competing with on Friday in Salt Lake City, Schofield played all four years in college. In his senior season, he was a first team All-SEC selection while leading the Volunteers to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament.

He is projected to be a second-round selection.

Quinndary Weatherspoon

A four-time All-SEC selection, Weatherspoon is one of just three players in Mississippi State history to score over 2,000 points in a Bulldog uniform. He previously went through the pre-draft process last year, but opted to return for his senior year in college.

He is not considered to be a top-60 prospect in this year’s draft.

The NBA Draft will take place June 20th in Chicago. The Jazz have the 23rd and 53rd overall picks.
