SALT LAKE CITY — A piece of NBA history donned by Michael Jordan in the 1998 Finals against the Utah Jazz is set to hit auction next month.
A game-worn jersey sported by Jordan in game three at the United Center is expected to reach an eight-figure price tag while on auction from September 15 to September 29.

The jersey is being sold on Joopiter, a “global digital-first auction house, marketplace, and private sales platform” founded by American musician and songwriter Pharrell Williams.
The auction page on Joopiter’s site reads:

A Forgettable Day For Utah Jazz Fans
Game three of the 1998 NBA Finals is one that has lived on in infamy for Utah Jazz fans.
Just under 365 days after Utah had its title hopes crushed by Chicago’s fifth championship in seven years, the Jazz arrived at the United Center with a chance to regain homecourt advantage and take a 2-1 series lead.
Unfortunately, a second-quarter Bulls explosion spelled an early end for the Jazz.
Karl Malone led the team with 22 points on 8-for-11 shooting, but no other Jazzman built any momentum. The Bulls won 96-54 and went on to secure two more victories in the next three games.
Jordan finished with 24 points on 50 percent shooting. Now, nearly three decades later, his jersey from that game will head to the highest bidder.
