FRISCO, Texas – Ever wonder what’s being discussed in a replay review during a Big 12 football game?
If you’ve had those thoughts, you’re in luck.
The Big 12 officially announced a new Replay Operations Center based in Irving, Texas.

“The ROC,” as the Big 12 is calling it, will have a 32-input replay system utilizing existing campus fiber infrastructure. It will also have integrated communication systems connecting stadiums, replay officials, and Conference leadership.

That means that in some games, you’ll hear audio from the new replay center during television broadcasts.
“So we’re planning to bring the audio, not for every game, but for some,” Big 12 chief football and competition officer Scott Draper said to KSL Sports.
“Games from the replay operation center onto the broadcast, you saw it last year with the ACC. We feel that transparency is important for the fans of the game. We have, you know, those difficult decisions are made in a few minutes, in a few seconds, and so I think it’s just an opportunity for us to showcase college football in a different way, and we’re more than happy to do that.”
As for what the criteria will be for which games get audio in the broadcasts, that is still to be determined, according to Draper.
“Our new replay center is a key investment in Big 12 Football that will strengthen our football ecosystem,” Draper said in a written statement. “This state-of-the-art facility enhances communication and replay operations, elevates our television broadcasts, and creates new opportunities to improve fan engagement and transparency while keeping the Big 12 at the forefront of innovation in college athletics.”
The replay center will have a PTZ All-30 View camera technology designed to keep all 22 players and eight officials in frame at all times. There will also be a DVS 360 post-game review, as well as a dedicated replay operations floor and Game Day center.
