BYU vs. Kansas Will Mark Historic Milestone For Allen Fieldhouse

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Allen Fieldhouse, home of the Kansas Jayhawks, is one of college basketball’s cathedrals.

On Saturday, when BYU and Kansas square off in a top-15 matchup featuring two of the potential top picks in next year’s NBA Draft, it will mark a significant milestone for the historic venue.

Game 1,000 for Allen Fieldhouse

The BYU-Kansas matchup will mark game 1,000 at Allen Fieldhouse.

Allen Fieldhouse has been the home of Kansas basketball since 1955.

The venue seats 15,300 fans following a two-year renovation completed in the summer of 2024 that includes upgraded concourses.

Saturday’s matchup will be BYU’s third visit to the basketball cathedral. The Cougars are 1-1 in those previous two visits.

Their first visit was in 1971 when they were ranked No. 6 in the country, BYU fell to an unranked KU squad, 83-67.

Then two years ago, BYU’s first matchup against Kansas as Big 12 foes, the Cougars shocked the No. 7 Jayhawks with a 76-68 victory.

Since Bill Self became the head coach at Kansas in 2003, the Jayhawks have lost only 22 home games; one of those was to BYU two years ago. The Cougars will look for another road victory at Allen Fieldhouse on Saturday.

For the 1000th game celebration, Kansas has released T-shirts in its team store at the arena for fans to purchase.
