BYU basketball releases 2026-27 nonconference schedule

PROVO – BYU basketball has finalized its schedule for nonconference games.

Beginning with the 2026-27 season, NCAA men’s basketball programs can have 14 nonconference games on their schedule. BYU took advantage of that and put together a 14-game out-of-league slate that also features two exhibition games.

Of the 14 nonconference games, 10 will occur in the state of Utah. The four games out of state will be played on neutral floors, with no true road games.

BYU opens the regular season against the Ohio State Buckeyes on Monday, November 2 at the Delta Center. The Buckeyes are viewed as a potential preseason Top 25 team next season. It will mark the first meeting between BYU and Ohio State on the hardwood since 1997.

BYU will face another Big Ten opponent, the Northwestern Wildcats, at the Delta Center on Saturday, December 5. Former BYU guard Aleksej Kostic is a member of Northwestern this upcoming season.

The upcoming nonconference schedule also signals the return of the BYU-Utah State rivalry. BYU will host the Aggies in the Marriott Center on Wednesday, December 9.

BYU also welcomes in-state opponent Weber State to the Marriott Center on Tuesday, December 15. The last time BYU faced Weber State was in 2022.

BYU also brings back an old rivalry with San Diego State. The Cougars will travel to Palm Springs, California, to face the Aztecs at Acrisure Arena in the Acrisure Series.

During Thanksgiving week, BYU will travel to Hawaii for the Maui Invitational. BYU is in an eight-team field that also includes fellow Big 12 foe Arizona, along with Clemson, Colorado State, Ole Miss, Providence, VCU, and Washington.

BYU basketball is entering year three under head coach Kevin Young. Through the first two years, BYU has reached the NCAA Tournament as an at-large team, earning a 6-seed in each season.
