BYU Basketball Availability Report Entering Kansas Game

LAWRENCE, Kan. – The key players for BYU basketball and Kansas are expected to be ready to roll for Saturday’s big game.

On Friday night, the Big 12 Conference released the initial availability report for the top-15 clash.

All systems are set to go for both BYU and Kansas.

The players that are out for the Cougars are the ones who have been out for a while: Nate Pickens (season-ending before the year), Dawson Baker (out since November), Brody Kozlowski (hasn’t played this year), KJ Perry (redshirting), and Xavion Staton (hasn’t appeared in a Big 12 game).

Kansas star Darryn Peterson is expected to play against BYU

For Kansas, the big story all week was the ankle of freshman star Darryn Peterson. Peterson missed KU’s win at Kansas State last Saturday because of an injured ankle.

All week, Kansas coach Bill Self and his coaching staff expected Peterson to play against BYU. Based on that availability report, that appears to be the case.

There were no players listed on the availability report for the Jayhawks.

So that means we will see the highly anticipated matchup of the potential top two picks in next June’s NBA Draft: BYU’s AJ Dybantsa and Peterson.

BYU enters the matchup looking to bounce back after a loss on Monday to No. 1 Arizona. Meanwhile, Kansas is looking to extend its four-game winning streak.
