PROVO, Utah – Farmington native Collin Chandler is returning to the state of Utah to continue his college basketball career.
Chandler, who has played the first two years of his collegiate career at the University of Kentucky, has committed to play for BYU out of the transfer portal. It’s a full-circle moment for a player who was once committed to BYU coming out of Farmington High School in the class of 2022.

The 6-foot-5, 205-pound combo guard started 31 games this past season for Kentucky. It was his first year of being in a starter role.
Chandler saw a big jump in his sophomore season from three-point range, as he knocked down 41% of his 3-point attempts. He hit 45.7% of his 3-point attempts during SEC play.
Chandler posted averages of 9.7 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.3 assists this past season for a Kentucky team that reached the Second Round in the NCAA Tournament.
He was the third leading scorer for the Wildcats this past season.
Not only is Chandler an efficient shooter, but he’s also an explosive athlete.
The combo guard had a highlight-reel dunk to open the season against Nicholls State that was one of the best slam dunks in the 2025-26 college basketball season.

Even rapper Lil Wayne chimed in on that dunk back in November, saying on X, “Collin Chandler OH MY LAMB!!! Ya durrty absolutely filthy brudda.”
A lot has changed in Chandler’s career and life since his initial commitment to BYU as a Farmington High star.
Chandler earned the Gatorade Boys Basketball Player of the Year in Utah for his play at Farmington.
He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Sierra Leone, Africa, and later in London, England.
When he was gearing up to return home from his mission, he flipped his initial commitment to BYU to Kentucky to follow Mark Pope in Lexington. Chandler’s commitment to Kentucky in 2024 came hours before BYU made Kevin Young’s hiring as head coach official.
During his freshman season with Kentucky, he appeared in 30 games, all off the bench.
Then, last spring, Chandler married his longtime girlfriend, Hannah, at the Bountiful, Utah, temple.
Chandler had a career-high output in his sophomore campaign with the Wildcats, scoring 23 points in a 91-77 win at Rupp Arena over SEC foe Vanderbilt.
The addition of Chandler is an important one for a BYU team that looks to replace its backcourt from this past season after a departure of Rob Wright III to the portal.
