Wong emerged as BYU’s top priority at wide receiver in the 2027 recruiting cycle. The Cougars offered him this past winter, kicking their recruitment of him into overdrive. Wong was BYU’s must-get receiver, especially as his relationship with passing game coordinator Fesi Sitake continued to be strengthened in the process.
“BYU was the choice because of how much of the culture I fit in,” Wong said to Blair Angulo of 247Sports. “The way Kalani (Sitake) is, and Fesi is as a position coach for me, I really fit in with them, and also the early opportunities I have there.”
Wong is the highest-rated wide receiver BYU has picked up a commitment from since Ross Apo in the 2010 recruiting class. He’s the 25th highest-rated recruit BYU football has received a commitment from since 2000, and the second-highest prospect in this cycle behind defensive lineman Jeremiah Williams.
Wong is the 244th overall prospect by 247Sports in the 2027 cycle, who hauled in 84 receptions for 1,470 yards and 20 touchdowns last season.
In the past two seasons at Norco High School, Wong has totaled 2,047 yards and 25 touchdowns.
Wong brings BYU’s total of commitments in the 2027 cycle to 10.
