A top priority in the 2027 recruiting cycle for BYU football is quarterback Brody Rudnicki.
The 6-foot-1, 205-pound signal-caller is a three-star prospect from Folsom High School. It’s the same high school where BYU signee Ryder Lyons, who is currently serving a Spanish-speaking mission in Orlando, Florida, for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, excelled as a star quarterback.

Rudnicki, who, like Lyons, is also a member of the Church, shared on X a picture of himself with BYU football assistant quarterback coach Tyler Hughes.
Hughes, who is in his first season with the BYU football staff, paid an in-home visit to Rudnicki.
That’s a new wrinkle in this spring evaluation period, in which analysts/assistant position coaches can now participate in off-campus recruiting under a blanket waiver issued earlier this year by the Division I FBS Oversight Committee.
Rudnicki was an MVP at BYU football’s summer camp in 2025. Then, last season in his junior campaign at Folsom High, he was primarily the backup to Lyons, but he had opportunities to step in as the starter when Lyons dealt with injuries. Including where he was thrust into action in the CIF Playoffs semifinals after Lyons suffered a shoulder injury.
Rudnicki led Folsom to a comeback victory in that semifinal game, then, in a fog-filled CIF 1-AA Championship Game against Cathedral Catholic a week later, he accounted for six touchdowns, leading Folsom to another state championship.
BYU football will host Rudnicki for a scheduled official visit on June 19. He also has a scheduled visit to Cal on June 12.
Rudnicki is the fifth quarterback in the state of California for 2027, according to the 247Sports Composite. He’s rated as the 57th overall quarterback in the cycle.
