BYU football releases depth chart for Arizona game

PROVO – The BYU football depth chart is out for the week two matchup against the Arizona Wildcats.

Here are some quick notes before diving into the second depth chart of the year for the nationally ranked Cougars.

BYU enters the game at 1-0 after a blowout victory over Utah Tech. Same with Arizona; they rolled through Northern Arizona to set up an undefeated early-season matchup.

Boundary & Field Backer changes

Last week, the boundary and field backer starters were Hunter Clegg (Boundary) and Tausili Akana (Field) against Utah Tech. Entering this week against Arizona, there are some changes as Akana will start at Boundary, while Nusi Taumoepeau, who was questionable last week due to injury, is cleared and ready to start at the Field Backer spot.

New starter at safety

Raider Damuni suffered an injury on Saturday against Utah Tech. He said he won’t miss the entire season, but he will miss this week. In place of Damuni at Strong Safety is Tommy Prassas.

The 6-foot-2, 200-pound Prassas is in his third season with the program. Last season, he redshirted due to injuries. He had a productive fall camp and looks poised to step in and maintain a high level of play at the back end of the defense alongside Faletau Satuala.

Prassas’ primary backup is Jarinn Kalama.

Kalama was a co-leader for tackles last week against Utah Tech.

No. 1 kick returner

On the heels of a 100-yard kickoff return for a touchdown to open the second half against Utah Tech, Cannon DeVries is the first player listed at kick returner this week. Entering Utah Tech week, he was the third kick returner listed.
