SALT LAKE CITY — ESPN’s College GameDay is staying another week in the Beehive State. This time, the Utes get the stage in Salt Lake City.
ESPN’s flagship college football pregame show will visit Salt Lake City on Saturday, Oct. 24, ahead of Utah’s matchup with Houston at Rice-Eccles Stadium. The selection brings GameDay to the state for consecutive weekends after Saturday’s stop in Provo for BYU’s game against Notre Dame.
Utah and Houston will kick off at 8:15 p.m. MT on ESPN, giving the Utes a national showcase that stretches from the morning festivities into the night.
We liked the Beehive State so much that we’re sticking around!
Next stop is Salt Lake to see the Utes put the nation’s longest win streak on the line in a top-20 showdown with Houston 🙌 https://t.co/U3Qbil9ftK

The matchup brings together two teams positioned to contend in the Big 12 race. Utah is 6–0 overall and 3–0 in conference play after escaping Colorado with a 27–24 victory Saturday. Houston improved to 6–1 and 3–1 with a 35–32 win over Oklahoma State.
For Morgan Scalley’s first Utah team, the attention comes with an immediate challenge: deliver a cleaner performance against another conference contender.
Braden Pegan and the players called it ‘a bit of a wake up call’ and that’s what it has to be for the Utes.
The Utes surrendered a 13–0 halftime lead in Boulder before Devon Dampier and Braden Pegan connected for two second-half touchdowns to help preserve their unbeaten record. Dampier finished with 278 passing yards and three touchdowns, while Pegan caught eight passes for 86 yards and two scores.
Houston arrives with momentum of its own. Quarterback Conner Weigman threw for 343 yards and five touchdowns against Oklahoma State, helping the Cougars hold off a second-half rally by the Cowboys. Utah’s defense will face another demanding assignment with significant conference implications.

Another GameDay visit for Utah
The visit will mark GameDay’s seventh trip to Utah’s campus and its second in as many seasons. The show most recently came to Salt Lake City ahead of the Utes’ November 2025 matchup with Cincinnati.
GameDay first visited Utah in 2004 for the BYU rivalry game as the Utes pursued an undefeated season and a breakthrough Fiesta Bowl appearance. The show returned for TCU in 2010, California in 2015, Washington in 2016 and Oregon in 2023 before last season’s Cincinnati visit.
Houston becomes the seventh different opponent featured during a GameDay stop at Utah.
The occasion adds another attraction to a weekend already designated as Utah’s homecoming and Parent and Family Weekend. With a national audience watching and another Big 12 contender coming to Rice-Eccles, the Utes have an opportunity to make the weekend count well beyond the pregame show.
