Utah Basketball Pauses Practice After ‘Handful’ Of Positive COVID-19 Tests

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Utah men’s basketball has paused all team activities, including practice after a handful of players and staff members tested positive for COVID-19.

Utah Athletic Director Mark Harlan revealed the news for the Runnin’ Utes when he met with the media on Friday afternoon, after the football team’s game against UCLA was canceled.
Practice for the basketball team was shut down on Friday morning.
“Yeah, effective this morning. We got some positives on their daily antigen test,” Harlan said. “We’ll have to confirm those with some PCR tests. But we have paused until we have a better understanding of that. They’re not confirmed tests yet. It’s fair to say it’s a handful.”

The Runnin’ Utes still haven’t revealed their entire schedule. The season is supposed to begin on Wednesday, November 25. On Thursday, the Pac-12 announced that Utah was predicted to finish eighth in the preseason media poll.
Junior forward Timmy Allen was named first team preseason All-Pac-12.
