BOULDER, Colo. – It was a tough afternoon for the University of Utah men’s basketball team in their first road game in conference play. They lost to No. 25 Colorado 91-52.

The Utes didn’t have a single player score in double figures. Riley Battin led them with 8 points, Timmy Allen and Both Gach each added 7 points apiece.

As a team, Utah shot 19-54 from the field for 35 percent, 6-19 for 31 percent from the three-point line, and made 8-12 from the free throw line for 66 percent. Colorado had a red-hot start to the game by jumping out to a 14-2 lead on a 12-0 run and the Utes couldn’t recover from that.

With such a young roster, the second youngest in the country, this could be a great learning experience for the Utes and something that they could build off of.

Four players reached double figures in scoring for the Buffaloes, led by Evan Battey with 17 points and 10 rebounds, McKinley Wright IV added 16 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists, D’Shawn Schwartz chipped in 14 points, while Tyler Bey posted a double-double with 11 points and 12 boards.

Colorado shot 59 percent from the floor by making 38 of their 64 shot attempt. They made 7-18 from beyond the arc and was 8-12 from the charity stripe.

One of the things that Utah needed to do to get the upset was to win the battle of the boards. The Buffaloes out-rebounded the Utes 42-24.

Utah dropped their record to 10-5 overall and 1-2 in conference play. They will remain on the road to face No. 24 Arizona on Thursday night at 6:30 p.m. The game will be broadcast on the Pac-12 Network.
