SALT LAKE CITY – While the National Hockey League is very much a business that can involve harsh decisions, new contracts and trades that come to fruition in an instant, there’s still a large family aspect to it.

For players like Vincent Trocheck who was recently traded from New York to Utah this summer, he has to consider how a move like that will ultimately impact his family as a husband and father of two.

Roughly a month after the move, Trocheck seems quite pleased with the decision as his son Leo has already found a new youth hockey team and has a new favorite player.

Vincent Trocheck’s son Leo is a fan of Logan Cooley

On the most recent episode on ‘Morning Cuppa Hockey’ with Jonny Lazarus and Colby Cohen, Trocheck opened up about his move from the Rangers to the Mammoth.

“It’s been great so far,” Trocheck said. “Right after we got traded Ryan called me and was just such a good dude…he’s willing to do whatever it takes. Anything that me and the family need, he’ll do.”

“We got to see the facilities…I’d never seen anything like it.”

In addition to a warm family welcome from Smith Entertainment Group and an appreciation for one of the best practice facilities in the National Hockey League, Vincent’s son Leo has also taken a liking to his new home.

Despite a hesitancy to leave his youth team back in New York after Vincent’s name started floating around trade rumors during last season’s deadline, Leo’s found a new team in Utah and is a big fan of one of his dad’s new teammates.

“He’s good now,” Trocheck said of his son Leo. “He has a team out there. We kind of found a spot that he might be able to go play…He’s such a hockey super fan that every team I’d mention he’d be like, ‘Oh! They have this guy; they have this guy. He’s so sick.'”

“When I told him Utah, he was like over the moon. He was like, ‘Oh! Logan is there.'”

Leo then confirmed that Cooley was his favorite player when asked directly by his dad during the podcast.

“Besides you? Logan.”

With his family now settled in Utah and both he and his son on new teams, Trocheck will be able to make a huge impact for the Mammoth this season as he plays alongside Leo’s new favorite player.
