KSL Sports Rewind High School Football Preseason Top 25: Nos. 25-21

SALT LAKE CITY – The High School football season is approaching and the state is filled with talented programs that are ready to battle for a state championship in the state of Utah.

Dane Stewart and Jeff Hansen of KSL Sports Rewind revealed the first five teams in their preseason top 25 ranking.

KSL Sports Rewind High School Football Preseason Top 25: Nos. 25-21

25. Bingham Miners, 6A Region 2

Head Coach: Josh Johnson, 2nd season

Last Season: 5-6 overall, 4-1 Region 2, 2nd place in region, eliminated in 2nd round of playoffs

Key Returners: OL Moli Toia, LB Suka Finau

Season Opener: at Corner Canyon on Friday, August 15 at 7:00 PM

24. Crimson Cliffs Mustangs, 4A Region 9

Head Coach: Wayne Alofipo, 4th season

Last Season: 12-2 overall, 6-0 Region 9, 4A state champions

Key Returners: 6 returning starters, RB Van Dailey, WR Jaxson Holt, LB Nate Ence, LB Bryce Strickland, DE Major Stokes

Season Opener: at Lone Peak on Friday, August 15 at 7:00 PM on the KSL Sports app, sports.ksl.com and the KSL+ app

23. Green Canyon Wolves, 4A Region 11

Head Coach: JT Tauiliili, 3rd season

Last Season: 8-3 overall, 4-2 Region 11, 2nd in region, eliminated in quarterfinals of playoffs

Key Returners: WR/FS Hayden Schramm, LB Eli Wheatley, CB/WR Bryson Pabst

Season Opener: at Provo on Friday, August 15 at 7:00 PM

22. Springville Red Devils, 5A Region 7

Head Coach: Dave Valeti, 4th season

Last Season: 6-6 overall, 2-3 Region 7, 4th in region, eliminated in 2nd round of playoffs

Key Returners: RB/LB Max Harris, QB/SS Lisiate Valeti, TE/DE Tua Nuafahu

Season Opener: vs. Alta on Friday, August 15 at 7:00 PM on the KSL Sports app, sports.ksl.com and the KSL+ app

21. Timpanogos Timberwolves, 4A Region 8

Head Coach: Austin Heaps, 6th season

Last Season: 6-5 overall, 3-3 Region 8, tied for 3rd in region, eliminated in first round of playoffs

Key Returners: QB Andrew Hillstead, multiple offensive linemen

Season Opener: at Juan Diego on Friday, August 15 at 7:00 PM

Game Night Live

Each week, Jeremiah Jensen and Stevenson Sylvester broadcast one high school football game from anywhere around the state of Utah.

Jeremiah Jensen is an Emmy award-winning sports anchor and reporter who has been covering sports in Utah for KSL since October 2005.

Jensen, a native of Star Valley, Wyoming has a passion for covering the sports teams he grew up watching. He recently won a regional Emmy and UBEE awards for Best Sports Story in 2011. His work has also been recognized by the Utah Society of Professional Journalists.

Sylvester is a former Utah Utes standout linebacker who played college football from 2006-09. He was a member of the Utah team that beat Alabama in the 2008 Sugar Bowl. Sylvester was selected in the fifth round by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2010 NFL Draft. He went on to play five seasons in the NFL, including four with the Steelers, and one with the Buffalo Bills.

The Game Night Live Game of the Week will be at Skyridge High School, where the Falcons will host the Mountain Ridge Sentinels. Kickoff is at 7:00 PM MT on Friday, August 15. The game will be streamed on the KSL Sports app, sports.ksl.com, and the KSL+ app.
