SALT LAKE CITY – The John Watson Northern Utah High School Player of the Week is celebrating the best high school basketball players in Northern Utah. Presented by John Watson Chevrolet in Ogden, each week we honor athletes for their exceptional performance on the gridiron. Our winners for week one of the season Tayson Porter from Ogden High School and Kylee Mueller from West Field High School.
Northern Utah Players of the Week – Kylee Mueller & Tayson Porter
Kylee Mueller and the West Field Longhorns enjoyed a 2-1 mark on the week as she notched 14 points in an 85-50 loss to Syracuse. She bounced back with 27 points and four rebounds as they rallied to beat Grantsville 60-59 and finished the week with eight rebounds and three steals while not scoring in a 46-44 victory over Ogden.
Tayson Porter and the Ogden Tigers were in Las Vegas for the Tarkanian Classic as they opened their run there with two big wins. In a 77-47 rout of Chapparal (NV), Porter paced Ogden with 9 points and followed it up with another 19-point outing in a 60-57 win over Sunrise Mountain (NV) as he made six three-pointers.
