Utah County High School Basketball Players of the Week – Week 13 – Janiece Sikander & Brody Thompson

SALT LAKE CITY – The Mr. Mac Utah County High School Player of the Week is awarded each week to the top prep boy’s and girl’s basketball players in Utah County. Sponsored by Mr. Mac, it honors athletes for their performances on the court and exceptional play. Our winners for week one were Janiece Sikander from Pleasant Grove High School and Brody Thompson from Westlake High School.

Utah County Players of the Week – Janiece Sikander & Brody Thompson

Janiece Sikander helped the PLeasant Grovve Vikings cap a perfect season with the 5A State Championship. In their quarterfinal win over Springville, she tallied seven points, seven assists, four rebounds, one steal and one block. She then had 13 points, five rebounds, four steals and one assist in their semifinal victory over Fremont. She saved her best for last with 21 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals in their state title win as they downed West High to hoist the hardware.

Brody Thompson led the Westlake Thunder to unprecedented territory in school history as they won the 6A Boy’s State Championship. In a quarterinfal victory over Lone Peak, he tallied 10 points, two rebounds, one assist and one block. He then added 15 points, six rebounds and two blocks in their semifinal win over Lehi. In the 6A title game, he paced Westlake with 24 points, eight rebounds, two assists, two steals and one block as they beat Bingham.
