SALT LAKE CITY – The Mr. Mac Utah County High School Player of the Week is awarded each week to the top prep football players in Utah County. It honors athletes for their performances on the gridiron and exceptional play. Our co-winners this week were Bosten Fountaine and Malik Sika from Westlake High School.

Utah County Player of the Week – Bosten Fountaine & Malik Sika (Westlake)

Fountaine and Sika had a prolific partnership as they led Westlake High School to a 45-12 rout of Pleasant Grove High School. Fountaine completed 26 of his 41 passing attempts for 497 yards and five touchdowns with Sika hauling in 15 of those passes for 327 yards and two touchdowns 

The Westlake Thunder were riding high coming off an opening night 47-14 rout of Highland High School as they welcomed the Pleasant Grove Vikings in for their home-opener. After a a scoreless first quarter on both sides, Westlake’s offense roared to life. Fountaine connected with Slone Sua for a pair of touchdowns before Kylan Xoumphonphackdy added a rushing touchdown to give them a 21-0 halftime lead.

Fountaine and Sika’s connection came to life in the second half as they hooked up for a pair of long touchdown passes, covering 86 and 75 yards, that blew the game open. The Thunder improved to 2-0 on the season as they now prepare to take on Bingham High School Friday
