Barstool Sports Founder Dave Portnoy Tries, Rates Pie Pizzeria In Utah

SALT LAKE CITY – Big Noon Kickoff’s Dave Portnoy is visiting Utah for the first time, so naturally, he had to hit some local pizza places to hand out some of his famous One Bite review scores.
Portnoy was added to the Fox Sports college football show this last summer as part of a new brand partnership.
The first pizzeria he visited was none other than The Pie by the University of Utah campus.
“Alright, Pie Pizzeria,” Portnoy started. ” We are right in the middle of the campus. We started by going to the Pie downstairs. How would I describe it? Groovy.”

For his One Bite pizza review videos, he walks out of the front door with the takeout box and starts the review right there.
After heading to the main location to do so, he got right into the review.
“I think I’m going to like that,” Portnoy said after opening the box. “That looks kind of like a jersey bar pie to me. One bite, everyone knows the rules. I saw a lot of people online being like, “He has to go to the Pie, but he’s going to hate it. Not his style.” I have no idea why people would say that. It’s skinny, kind of like a bar pie. I wish the undercarriage were a little crispier. But for a campus pizza spot, I think this is pretty good.”
Portnoy was also pictured at the Villaggio Pizzeria on Thursday. The restaurant posted a picture of him on Instagram with the caption “Dave Portnoy here at Villaggio Pizzeria!”
Dave Portnoy Visits Utah Campus Store, Local Pizza Shops
In Portnoy’s first social media posts while in SLC, he praised the Utes’ campus store and also stopped by a few pizza places.

In later posts, he was seen wearing a Utah shirt as well as different Utes hats. On Friday, he rated the Utah campus store a 9.2 out of 10 on his Instagram story.
Thirty minutes before sharing that on X, he posted a picture from the Pie Pizzeria next to the University of Utah campus.

Portnoy’s famed pizza reviews always cause a stir, with people recommending their favorite places before he’s in town and then giving their own thoughts on his taste after he gives his score.
Earlier this summer, Fox Sports and Barstool agreed to a partnership that combined the platforms’ sports presence. Portnoy was added to the Big Noon Kickoff show as an analyst as part of this partnership.
