LOS ANGELES, California – Taysom Hill put on a show in the second half of the New Orleans Saints’ preseason game against the Los Angeles Chargers Sunday.

The former BYU quarterback came in late in the second quarter, and initially struggled, taking a sack and and throwing an incompletion.

In the third quarter, Hill found his rhythm. He took off for a 17-yard run, then two plays later, Hill threw a 27-yard touchdown to Austin Carr. It was the Saints’ first touchdown of the game.

On New Orelans’ next possession, with the Saints around midfield, Hill started by scrambling on a broken play for 23 yards, avoiding four different tacklers along the way. However, the possession ended three plays later with a Saints fumble by Devine Ozigbo inside the Chargers 10-yard line.

Hill was the star for the Saints in the 4th quarter. On the team’s first full drive of the period, Hill went 6-for-6 while leading an 11-play, 69-yard drive. The drive ended with Hill’s second touchdown of the day, a 1-yard pass to Ozigbo. The Saints went for two, but Hill was sacked during the attempt.

On New Orelans’ final possession of the game, Hill once again lead his team down the field capping a 9-play, 50 yard drive with a field goal. The score gave the Saints a 19-17 lead. The Chargers tried to mount a comeback, but New Orleans linebacker Colton Jumper intercepted a pass by Easton Stick, ending the contest.

Hill finished 11-for-15 for 136 yards and two touchdowns. He also lead the Saints in rushing, mowing up 53 yards on 5 rushing attempts.
