SALT LAKE CITY – Green Bay Packers running back and former BYU star Jamaal Williams is still on his grind despite the Coronavirus Pandemic taking place in the world today. One thing about BYU’s all-time leading rusher is that he always keeps a positive outlook and he’s doing that now during these uncertain times.

Williams went to Instagram to give an uplifting message to his fans.

A message from Jamaal Williams!!

A post shared by Jamaal + Aaron Fan 30+33 (@jamaalw30) on

“What’s happenin’ y’all? This is Jamaal. Just still out here getting this work in. All this craziness happening in the world, just want to say, stay calm, cool, and collected. Stay with your family members and just be smart out there. You know, keep doing what you doing [and] live life. Go Cougs! Go Pack,” said Jamaal Williams.

Well said, Jamaal. Positive vibes are what we need to get through these tough times and no one brings BYU fans as much happiness as Williams who with his great play on the field and infectious personality had fans always feeling upbeat.

Jamaal Williams continues to train despite NFL team facilities closing

Williams is currently working out in Arizona with his longtime trainer Luke Neal who worked with Williams during his time at BYU. The training with Neal will have to continue in the near future as NFL facilities are closing to everyone beginning Wednesday night.

Earlier this month, Williams made a visit to his alma mater for BYU football spring practice where he was rocking a backpack with speakers blaring music. Only one man in BYU football history can pull that look off and it’s the “Swagdaddy” a.k.a. “Baby J” according to Taysom Hill.

Williams is preparing for his fourth and final year on his rookie contract with the Green Bay Packers. The 2020 season will be an important one for Williams to secure a second contract with the Pack. Last season, Williams had a total of 713 yards from scrimmage with 460 coming on the ground and he found the endzone six times tying a career-best he set his rookie season in 2017.

Coronavirus Resources

How Do I Prevent It?

The CDC has some simple recommendations, most of which are the same for preventing other respiratory illnesses or the flu:

  • Avoid close contact with people who may be sick
  • Avoid touching your face
  • Stay home when you are sick
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue and then throw the tissue in the trash
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom, before eating, and after blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing. Always wash your hands with soap and water if your hands are visibly dirty.
  • If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.

The CDC does not recommend wearing a face mask respirator to protect yourself from coronavirus unless a healthcare professional recommends it.

How To Get Help

If you’re worried you may have COVID-19, you can contact the Utah Coronavirus Information Line at 1-800-456-7707 to speak to trained healthcare professionals. You can also use telehealth services through your healthcare providers.

Additional Resources

If you see evidence of PRICE GOUGING, the Utah Attorney General’s Office wants you to report it. Common items in question include toilet paper, water, hand sanitizer, certain household cleaners, and even cold medicine and baby formula. Authorities are asking anyone who sees price gouging to report it to the Utah Division of Consumer Protection at 801-530-6601 or 800-721-7233. The division can also be reached by email at consumerprotection@utah.gov.
