Provo City Demonstrates Social Distancing With NFL’s Kaufusi Brothers

PROVO, Utah – Provo City had calls, emails, and texts from citizens reporting others not practicing social distancing during their outdoor activities amid the Coronavirus pandemic.
Provo Mayor Michelle Kaufusi created a campaign and online short to bring more attention to the importance of social distancing by using her NFL and former BYU football player sons as “human rulers.”
The minimum for effective social distancing is six feet apart. Which makes Mayor Kaufusi’s sons Bronson and Corbin perfect to showcase the importance of social distancing.

Both Bronson and Corbin are current members of the NFL’s New York Jets. Older brother Bronson checks in at 6’6″, while Corbin stands at 6’10”.
Six feet is the minimum for social distancing, but the ideal distance is Corbin’s height of 6’10”. Mayor Kaufusi called it “Giving a Kaufusi” if you care enough to give a little extra to those around you.
The brothers helped their mother in a quick online video to highlight social distancing, which was an acting debut for the two football stars.
“I’m hearing rumors of an Oscar, but you know, it’s still early and I’m sure there will be many contenders. Maybe,” said Corbin Kaufusi.
“I’m clearly the better actor, said Bronson. To which Corbin replied, “No, he’s not.”
Bronson has been with the New York Jets franchise since 2018 while Corbin was signed to a practice squad contract last October by the Gang Green.

How Do I Prevent It?
The CDC has some simple recommendations, most of which are the same for preventing other respiratory illnesses or the flu:
- Avoid close contact with people who may be sick
- Avoid touching your face
- Stay home when you are sick
- Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue and then throw the tissue in the trash
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom, before eating, and after blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing. Always wash your hands with soap and water if your hands are visibly dirty.
- If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.
The CDC does not recommend wearing a face mask respirator to protect yourself from coronavirus unless a healthcare professional recommends it.

If you’re worried you may have COVID-19, you can contact the Utah Coronavirus Information Line at 1-800-456-7707 to speak to trained healthcare professionals. You can also use telehealth services through your healthcare providers.
Additional Resources
If you see evidence of PRICE GOUGING, the Utah Attorney General’s Office wants you to report it. Common items in question include toilet paper, water, hand sanitizer, certain household cleaners, and even cold medicine and baby formula. Authorities are asking anyone who sees price gouging to report it to the Utah Division of Consumer Protection at 801-530-6601 or 800-721-7233.
