SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The University of Utah men’s basketball team did not add any new recruits to their 2020 signing class.

Utah signed four recruits on November 13, 2019 during the early signing period.

Two players are four-star prospects and rated in the top 100 and the other two are three-star recruits with one coming from the state of Utah.

Utah has the second best recruiting class in the Pac-12 and the 30th in the nation.

Ian Martinez

Martinez is a 6’3, 165-pound four-star shooting guard from J Serra Catholic High School in San Juan Capistrano, California. He is the son of new Utah assistant coach Henry Martinez. The scoring guard was rated as the 11th best prospect in the state of California, the 20th best shooting guard and No. 102 in the nation.

He is an athletic wing that can create his own shot and can help create for others. Martinez is a strong perimeter shooter and has fairly long arms for his size. His other offers included Ole Miss, Arizona, Arizona State, Cal State Northridge, Long Beach State, Pepperdine, San Diego State, and USC.

Caleb Lohner

Lohner is a 6’6, 200-pound small forward from Texas, but is played his final year of high school at Wasatch Academy in Mount Pleasant, Utah. He is a four-star prospect that is rated the second highest-rated recruit from Utah, No. 27 small forward and No. 135 in the nation.

He has good length at 6’6 and can run the floor well and can make some sharp passes. His shooting is good and has the ability to attack the basket using his ball-handling skills. Lohner is also a strong rebounder. He received offers from Baylor, BYU, Kansas State, TCU, Texas, and Texas A&M.

Pelle Larsson

Larsson is a 6’5, 200-pound combo guard from Sweden. He is a three-star prospect, who is the No. 20 rated combo guard. In Sweden, he averaged over 7 rebounds per game, which is impressive at 6’5. He is a scorer, who can also make sharp passes to his teammates. Larsson can play the point guard or the shooting guard but is primarily a shooting guard.

He received one other offer before choosing Utah, which was from San Francisco.

Mason Falslev

Falslev is a 6’3, 180-pound guard from Sky View High School in Smithfield, Utah. He is a three-star recruit and is the sixth highest-rated prospect in the state of Utah. Falslev is also a wide receiver for the football team, which means he has great hands that will benefit his game in basketball.

He is an athletic wing that can get to the rim. The local prospect could carve out a role with the Utes. He verbally committed last year.
