BYU RB Ty’Son Williams Signs With Baltimore Ravens As Undrafted Free Agent

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – BYU running back Ty’Son Williams has found a landing spot with an NFL franchise. Williams signed an undrafted free agent contract with the Baltimore Ravens confirmed by KSL Sports.
Ty’Son Williams’ Collegiate Career
A four-star recruit in high school, Williams originally signed with the University of North Carolina. After one year with the Tar Heels, Williams transferred to the University of South Carolina in the SEC.
While with the Gamecocks, Williams rushed for 799 yards in two full seasons within a busy running back room in Columbia. Because of an inconsistent role at South Carolina, Williams entered the transfer portal after he completed his undergrad degree.

BYU saw Williams’ name in the portal and immediately contacted him without having any prior relationship or connection to the former Tar Heel and Gamecock.
Williams picked BYU over offers from Fresno State and Marshall. When Williams arrived at BYU the following fall, he immediately became the Cougars starting running back. After the first fall camp scrimmage, BYU head coach Kalani Sitake said Williams was emerging as a leader.
In BYU’s first game of the season against rival Utah, Williams was the Cougars starting running back. Williams only had seven carries in his first game at BYU but averaged 6.4 yards per carry, the same average as Buffalo Bills draftee and former Ute Zack Moss.
Williams played in three more games at BYU rushing for a total of 264 yards and hauling in seven receptions for 47 yards before suffering a season-ending ACL injury against the Washington Huskies.
There was a chance that Williams could have pursued a medical hardship season to return to BYU, but he instead opted to pursue the NFL.
