SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Former Utah and current Chicago Bears cornerback Jaylon Johnson recorded a pass-breakup as time expired to seal a victory for his team over the Detroit Lions.

Johnson and the Bears played against the divisional rival Lions in the organization’s 2020 season opener on Sunday, September 13.

As the clock expired in regulation, the former Utah star knocked down a pass by Detroit quarterback Matthew Stafford that intended for Lions receiver Marvin Jones Jr.

Johnson’s deflection sealed a 27-23 comeback by the Bears.

After trailing 23-6 entering the fourth quarter, Chicago scored 21 unanswered points to win the game.

In his first NFL game, Johnson got the start.

He accounted for a pair of PBUs and six tackles, including five solo tackles.

Up next for Johnson and the 1-0 Bears is a game against the New York Giants on Sunday, September 20 at 11 a.m. (MDT).
