SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Utah Jazz had their nine-game winning streak come to an end at the hands of the Dallas Mavericks, 111-103 on Monday night.

The Mavericks shot the ball very well, making 45 percent of their field goals and 47 percent of their threes, while the Jazz struggled, hitting 42 percent of their field goals and 27 percent of their three-point attempts.

Mike Conley led the Jazz with 28 points and 7 assists. Donovan Mitchell, Jordan Clarkson and Bojan Bogdanovic all scored 16 points apiece. Rudy Gobert added a double-double with 14 points, 15 rebounds and two blocks.

Luka Doncic led all scorers with 31 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists. Dorian Finney-Smith chipped in 23 points and Jalen Brunson had 20 points off the bench.

Mike Conley Keeps Jazz Close To Mavericks In First Half

The Jazz wouldn’t have been close to the Mavericks in the first half if it wasn’t for Mike Conley. Utah’s starting point guard had 15 points in the first half, including 13 points in the first quarter. Bojan Bogdanovic and Rudy Gobert each had 8 points in the first 24 minutes of the game. The Jazz shot 39 percent from the field and made just four of their first 23 three-point attempts.

Donovan Mitchell struggled in the first half, scoring just four points on 2-of-13 shooting from the field and 0-for-5 from the three-point line. Four Mavericks scored in double figures in the first half. Josh Richardson had 12 points, Luka Doncic scored 12 points, while Jalen Brunson and Dorian Finney-Smith added 10 points apiece. Those four players scored 46 of their 50 first half points with Tim Hardaway Jr. scoring the remaining four points.

Dallas outscored Utah 27-25 in the first quarter and 23-17 in the second quarter to take a 50-42 lead at halftime.

Utah Can’t Get Past Dallas Despite Multiple Runs

The Jazz kept trying to cut into the Mavericks’ lead in the third quarter. They pulled within four a couple of times before Dallas would stretch the lead back to nine or 10 points. Tim Hardaway Jr. was red hot in the third quarter, scoring 12 points, which was capped with a three-pointer at the buzzer. Doncic had 16 points in the quarter as the Mavericks outscored the Jazz 37-27 and took an 87-69 lead entering the fourth quarter.

Utah started strong in the fourth quarter offensively as Joe Ingles, Georges Niang and Mike Conley hit three-pointers but Dallas answered everything the Jazz threw at them. The Jazz started the fourth quarter by making six of their first seven shots but Dallas made five of their first six field goal attempts.

The Jazz dropped their record to 38-12 on the season. They will wrap up their quick two-game road trip in Phoenix against the Suns on Wednesday, April 7. Tip-off is at 8 p.m. MT on AT&T SportsNet.
