Report: Conley To Sign Three-Year Contract With Jazz

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Utah Jazz have signed All-Star point guard Mike Conley to a three-year contract extension according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania, providing an answer to the team’s biggest offseason question.
Conley entered the summer as an unrestricted free agent and could have signed a contract with any team he wanted to, but opted to remain with the Jazz through the 2023-24 season.
The 33-year-old made his first all-star team last year averaging 16.2 points, 6.0 assists, and 3.5 rebounds while shooting 44 percent from the floor and 41 percent from the three-point line.

Charania reported that the three-year deal is worth $68 million while ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski said the deal is worth $72.5 million.
The Jazz finished with the best record in the NBA last season but were eliminated in the second round of the playoffs by the Los Angeles Clippers. Conley missed the first five games of the series with a reoccurring hamstring injury that he first suffered in February.
Conley missed 21 games total with the injury during the regular season before reaggravating the hamstring in the team’s series-clinching victory over the Memphis Grizzlies in the opening round.

Re-signing Conley to the three-year and $68 million contract pushes the Jazz significantly over the luxury tax and limits the rest of their offseason maneuverability. The team still has the taxpayer mid-level exception at its disposal to fill out the roster.
Last summer the team signed Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert to large extensions to keep them in Utah for the next half-decade. With Conley now committed to return, the Jazz championship window remains open for the foreseeable future.
